Lakeside maternity session on film!

I’ve always been drawn to film: the soft contrast, beautiful hues, and timeless feel. I’m not sure why it took me so long to incorporate it into my business, but it has given me a renewed sense of creativity and excitement in my sessions. Film slows me down and forces me to intentionally compose an image, or think about the vision I want before I take the photo. I only have 15 images per roll, so I have to be specific with the photos I capture. I find myself looking for the little things more: the candid moments, the blurry moments, and the connection between my couples and my clients.

This session was a dream - Kenzie & James were a past Kelsey Jade couple of mine, so it was an honor to capture their maternity photos as they were awaiting the arrival of their son. We had the perfect lakeside evening at Pactola at golden hour for their session, and all of these images are shot on film! The timeless quality of film captures the essence of each moment, creating a sense of nostalgia and romance that, in my opinion, cannot be replicated by digital images. Film photography allows me to offer my clients a unique and authentic experience, and I love being one of the only film photographers in South Dakota. By embracing film, I can add a touch of timeless elegance to my photography, and provide my clients with a unique, luxury experience. I cannot wait to photograph this sweet little boy soon!
