May officially signifies the start of our wedding season and we couldn’t have chosen a better couple to kick us off. Brooke & Zach had to wait an extra 364 days to celebrate thanks to the pandemic (I loved the signs they had at their reception to let everyone know they needed to be sure and celebrate a little extra ;) ) but the wait was worth it – they were surrounded by so many friends and family members and they had the most beautiful wedding day. We also love that they chose Elkhorn Ridge Resort for their ceremony and reception. It’s such a pretty venue and has breathtaking views of the Black Hills. Although the sky was a little dark, the rain held off until after the ceremony so thankfully these two were able to say their vows outdoors with the hills as a backdrop.
We always know that littles can be unpredictable, and they are always adorable: Brooke & Zach had a dog of honor, the cutest flower-throwing flower girls, and darling ring bearers who are actually brothers and they tackled one another down the aisle right before the bride walked down. It was hilarious – these are the moments that make a wedding day memorable and unique. We also loved Brooke’s wooden flowers – we’ve only seen these a handful of times before and they photograph so well. Best part is? They last long after the wedding day, too. The newlyweds also did a “paint pour” as their unity ceremony – my heart was racing a bit watching Brooke pour paint with her gorgeous white wedding dress, but these two are pros and they didn’t spill a drop. Almost immediately after the receiving line, the rain started so we got to enjoy a BBQ dinner indoors as well as a cookie bar (seriously the most dangerous thing – ha!) and Colt 45 kept the dance floor hopping all night long. What a way to officially start our 2021 wedding season.
