Ok this session was a dream! I’ve been waiting for this day for months. When Sami and I first met, she told me she wanted to get married in the Black Hills but since Arizona is home, she also wanted an engagement session in the desert so she could have both of her favorite places captured in her photos. And I jumped at that opportunity.

I had a conversation with one of my photographer friends a few years ago about how dreamy Arizona light was. It’s completely different with the sun and sand and desert cliffs than here in the hills in the dead of winter. I’ve been really trying to hone in my preferred style of photography this year, and this was the perfect session for me. These two are also the sweetest people you’ll ever meet – so easy going, down-to-earth, and they tolerated my crazy ideas throughout the entire session. I’m even more excited for their wedding now! But it’s official – I’ll be doing yearly desert sessions for sure! I could have photographed here all day. Look at that LIGHTTTT!!!! So so dreamy. And I love that their pup Sadie got to tag along with us. If you look close enough, you can see her tail in quite a few images. She didn’t want to stray too far from her humans.
